House Frau
Comments:
Outside looking in but redirected out. So the House Frau seems to belong to the reflected house, when, in fact, she belongs to the tiled window sill.
There are untidinesses to this - the tilt and partial frame - but the figurine has a unifying presence. She is also duly meek and bows her head to the tall chimney. She also seems to be neglecting her housework, which is in evidence behind her.
I like the three verticals. I'm not sure though that there is otherwise enough here to keep me interested. I'm wandering around it and not quite getting caught on an element enough to be held.
A bit enigmatic but is it enough?
I noticed the cobweb behind Frau and the radio antenna in front but I am struggling.
'A bit enigmatic but is it enough?'
I think the enigma might be deepened by cropping out the window frame, which just seems to drag this bag into the prosaic.
this does miss the mark, I tried (with my feet) to square up the window but the height and narrow area did not allow it. Excuses of course and I should of left it on the harddrive.
I think it's a little hard saying it should have been left on the hard drive. It does have potential with some cropping variations and also some contrast enhancements. After all this perhaps it could be discarded but it should be given a go. The dropped head and the 'eyes' made by the windows of the house do have some interaction going which is a good start to work on.
While I don't totally disagree with comments so far, (except that you should have left this on the hard drive!) there is a feeling created by the demeanor of the figure and the color palette here that seems worth exploring a bit more. Perhaps a crop as Matt suggested.
I agree with some cropping, as I visually block out the top and side edges, the photograph starts to connect. With the near focus ledge and the dreamy (out of focus) house, it is a little disorienting. The figurine does wonders to bring it all together, creates a commentary and potenailly a story, thus a critical piece to this image for me.
