Trees Can't Read

A picture for Easter?

Leaving aside the dead oak (and hence the title) to examine the whole picture, one finds a very distinct and innovative composition. The balance of the different components - blue bokeh lights, mirrored yellow sign and the cross of barbed wire - come together in a definitely best-in-colour way.

I'm not sure about the oak - I would probably have removed it!! E-3?

This would be interestingly different without the oak. I'm not clear as to which would be the stronger picture - especially with the aggressively sharp contrast on the leaves as presented. The, er, contrast between the leaves and the softer background makes this an unrestful picture.

The sign, with its graphic, certainly gets the point across, doesn't it? And then, the barbed wire just in case you didn't get it.

You almost have a crucifixion here. There are a lot of competing elements in this. That bottom right quarter doesn't sit quite right with a 'reflection' of the warning sign. The sign says keep off and the background, though smooth, comes over quite gritty. Agree on unrestful - it does make me think long and hard if I'd have shot it any differently!

Good points made on the branch and the point of focus on it vs. the sign and pole.

It may seem an odd thing for me to suggest, but I might prefer to see this in black and white. The bright colors, while adding to the sense of warning, are distracting me from the strong graphics of both the sign and the cross shape in the image itself. Those circular bits of blue in the background are particularly bothersome.

these warning signs with their wrnings of dire consequences always make me smirk a little, I have to wonder who in their right mind would do the things they aften warn about.
Due to the focus I'd say the main subject was the branch and barbed wire, the placard is extra information. But as the main subject those items don't quite make the composition work for me, I'm not sure if it those spaces around the pole all having the same shape that is the problem (for me).

Easter is what came to mind and the repeat of the sign (dead guy) and the dead branch is well seen. The out of focus colors on the sides remind me of stained glass church windows.
