A 45 Litre Dustbin

Oyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Comments:
Curiosity aroused.

Two hoses, two giant toilet roll holders, one bin.

Clearly that it is one lonely robot ;-)

This is a great composition, with the echoing of the components, such as the hoses. And the take away side walk to the stairs which takes you around the corner to ....

Nice balance and tonalities, keeps me in this photo and wondering... something interesting when not told everything.

Added a whole gallery of hosepipes here if you are interested: http://www.akikana.com/projects/hosepipes/page01.html

This one is unique in that collection. It is in stereo!!

Not only do I love this, but I love this next to the batman shot. Explaining why they are both funny would keep a fleet of academics working for a long time :-)

I see the robot with hose/ears and a curly bush hairdo. Is that what attracted you to the scene? What do they do here that they need 2 hoses for?
This picture also has a base to rest on, another thing I find is needed in a strong picture.

The gallery in the link has some great shots: in a country such as Franco's Spain I could imagine the police getting interested in this 'spy' taking such a close interest in the technical workings of the State! Come to think of it, such behaviour would increasingly come under suspicion in the UK.

This shot interests me, as in many of your shots, for how it distinguishes cultural differences with other countries in style and technique. Here I like the paved way and how that is crossed by a two-tile strip and then zig-zags right and up the steps. Whoever looks after that tree has fashioned it beautifully tight against the wall.

As Matt says - definitely robot country!

Wonderful and clever, very Akikana.

I found your hosepipe gallery to be brilliant.

Now I don't feel so bad about my growing collection of chair shots ;-)

The hose gallery is wonderful.
Matt, haven't been here long enough to see chair shots from you. I seem to be collecting curtain pictures.

I don't know how I missed this earlier in the week. I must have lost my place. Now that I am here, I am lost and mystified by this amusing and puzzling place.

Like others, I note the giant toilet paper rolls and that presumptious bin coming at me. While amused by what I see, I am tempted to go up those steps, (how could I not be?), but if what is around the corner turns out to be half as puzzling as what I now see, I may regret succumbing to my curiousity. Very Alice-in-Wonderland for me.

Thanks for the feedback. It took me a while to get this shot as there was invariably a car parked on the right hand side. I walk past this house every morning I walk the dogs and one weekend I noticed the car had gone and an added bonus the dustbin was there for collection. It had all come together in my eye over a number of weeks so it's always pleasing when the opportunity finally presents itself to make the shot.

The special joy of delayed gratification and successfully stalking your prey.
