Shadow

Moto-yoyogi-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
Comments:
Moto-yoyogi-cho to you too!
Is this Mickey Mouse hanging out in Tokyo? Very good. A tight composition that really works, particularly by making one want to see higher up the tree. The shutter is strangely helpful to the shadow and, whilst it resembles an old Citroen van from the '60s, is subtly different.
Hah! I was going to make a Mickey on a diet joke :-(
This is an effective and imaginative use of photography. The subject is clear without being obvious. It is the sort of thing that one sees and which adds to life. Good to get it photographed sometimes.
I saw the ears and thought of MM too. Did a couple of angles (which is unusual for me) one with the right-hand branches the other without. On viewing the two shots side-by-side the one posted here seemed to work much better for me.
Thanks for the feedback...a slow week on Stills!
I'm not sure whether or not I would have thought of Mickey Mouse without having seen the previous comments -- though you'd think I would, living here in the land of Disney World.
Another very fine square composition -- I'm glad you included the branches.
Christina - quite possibly, the further one is from Disney World the more impact the product might have. It also goes with being a certain age: in the '50s, in Britain and not owning a television, that occasional treat as a child to see a film was usually preceded by a cartoon. That sort of thing remains in the memory. An example of 'soft power', although MM and DD did make me wonder about a country that could produce them!!
Not quiet a true anthropomorphism but the feel of animation does come through.
I like this kind of snippet of life that goes undiscovered by 99.9% of the population until one of our number grabs it and gives it permanence.
