Herzog and de Meuron's Prada Building

Minami-aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

Comments:
Beautiful tonality. What is she doing? Cleaning a lens of the hive eye?

I thought that there was going to be a joke here about 'hygiene factors', but a little googling around pointed out that I was thinking of Herzberg, not Herzog.

More momentfull than your usual.

I know it is a cliche to say that the figure adds scale, but I think that it is a significant addition to this picture. Without the figure two things happen. Firstly the scale goes and secondly the picutre becomes monodirectional. The figure gives me lots of information about what this is and stops me leaving the picture top left.

Where is her ladder? Try finding a shop with architecture like this in London. I wonder whether the two short lines bottom left wouldn't keep one in the picture without the figure? The object seen through the window pane bottom right looks like a block plane!

What is interesting is how the distortions in the glass sometimes allow one to see in and other times reflect. So here is the dragonfly's eye scaled up - which is maybe what Matt was alluding to.

"I know it is a cliche to say that the figure adds scale"

So I guess they are not needed in my current website frontpage picture given the name of the building?

Ho Ho Ho

On Small Tree Avenue, I presume.

What wonderful reflections! And a fascinating building -- I looked it up, wanting to see the entire structure. Found an entire website about "people enjoying buildings worldwide".

Your image of it is a treat.

This is a feast of reflections and cusps of light. I would have liked Prada to stand out a bit more, it would give the bottom right a bit more of an anchor.

It took me three years to nail this one. I took two shots prior to this from a much further away vantage point but they just seemed like most of the other shots I'd seen of the building. As I got closer I noticed the lady cleaning the glass and she obliged by continuing whilst I was framing the shot. Thanks for the comments.
