no tag on the flowers

Comments:
If taken together, this photo and the previous three posts present a recently lonely picture of the world, like something has just happened to make everyone go somewhere else.

I nearly beat you to this, I took a number of a similar subject but decided to do the lifebelt first. Interestingly the life belts might become a series as every little beach in Ireland had at least one lifebelt so I took a lot. Both situations were influenced by Doug and Bad Trip - Sad Trip.

The pristine boats versus the decaying flowers provides a good juxtaposition.

The flowers, though obviosuly the subject, are really hogging the scene here. I think a slightly further away shooting position would have given more space for the background to come through and lead you more comfortably to it.

akikana has expressed what I've been struggling to put into words. This seemed like a record shot - maybe for the family scrapbook for the family involved - but as a shot to stand by itself it doesn't seem to work for me (although the pink on blue does give it something).

The colors are very striking -- with that palette and the subject of the dying flowers in that bright magenta wrapping, I'd be more inclined to look for a closer view instead of wider as suggested, (still using the background blues) -- although you would probably have a harder time conveying the documentary aspect of the scene if that was something you were after.

As it is, I like the angle and position of the bouquet, but the boats are more of a distraction from the things that interest me.

I find that the background boats help with the context of the place and perhaps the reason for the flowers, maybe lost at sea? The color of the flowers are also in big contrast to the white and blue of the boats in the marina, keeping the focus and interst upon them. The white line in the foreground acts as a small barrier or separation, between the flowers and the waters.

It could have been a drunk who couldn't find his wife/girlfriend and tied them to the lamp post. A child could have drowned in the Marina - I have no idea.

Just an observation on impermanence: Swansea didn't have a Marina ten years ago. I don't think a record shot would have been taken like this, if at all. Closer, further? My feeling is that it is about right.
