For Sale

Comments:
Is this a metaphor for the hard times ahead for estate agents (realtors)?!

The star burst of the broken glass is very effective. I'm not so sure about the sign behind it: the house shows quite well but the lower half, which I think is a reflection of the house in a pond, spoils the aesthetic of the overall image. 'Knight, Frank' could have done with being less blurred.

I presume that the head is yours?

'I presume that the head is yours?'

The head almost appears to be resting on the house as if the house were shoulders. The reflection then becomes a collar. Looking at this is almost like putting together a puzzle. The broken glass gives this some extra depth. It works for me.

I think that perhaps one needs to know who Knight Frank are for this to work fully. But given that I do, it does.

Unlike Colin's prior cracked window, this one does need the focal point of the crack to make it work. Not sure I see it as a statement on real estate agents though you sure can make out a house in the background if Knight Frank is giving you no help. The chosen DOF is just right and already breaks up the background without the addition of the 'stained-glass plugin'. Still undecided about the left and right edges plus that white 'L'.

An interesting image, but only after reading the above, did I see what could be taken for a person's forehead and hair in the image. I think the cracked window and reflected house make a great socialogical comment on the current economic conditions, at least for here in Southern CA. I took the blurry symbol in the upper right corner as being for a bank, thus it made this photograph all the better. The banks are fading back (blurry) and not helping those in this broken economy.

Before I knew who Knight Frank was, I still found this fairly intriguing and an interesting idea. The broken glass is positioned very well and the colors make it practically attractive, at least until the subject matter sinks in a bit.
