Eye Contact

I was rewarded with a beautiful smile when she turned round to look at me.

She's fast on the way to developing a back problem and would benefit from a spell of Alexander technique. I can see her eyes flickering as they focus on you! It's a difficult space to work with to get the proportions within the framing right but I think that you have done a fairly good job, although having her reflection about a half centimetre further in might have been the ideal (and probably unachievable). What works very well in your favour is the condition of the surface of the mirror, which goes a long way to mitigating the overall composition. Did you try cropping hard from the left to make it portrait mode? I bet you never thought you would here me say that!!!
I love her expression though, and the fact that she's carrying a clarinet.
I saw the ad for AT, but not the clarinet. Which just goes to show (again) how much we bring our own experiences to a picture.
Apart from being a lovely moment, there is a lot of social history in this photo. The clothes, the wall, the phone. I wonder if there is a museum collecting this kind of cultural documentary stuff.
I'm a bit surprised you got a smile.
Ah -- a square from you --and quite a nice one. This has such a lovely feel. The color is wonderful and that reflection! I think John's crop would work, but I'm quite happy with it as it is.
I'm just wanting the reflection on this one. The patterns on the top are playing havoc with my eyes and so the smudgy reflection is much more calming.
Interesting combination of this image with Colin's below with regard to the use of reflections and multiple looks with the same image. This is nice.
