Cleaning the Arc de Triomphe

Comments:
This feels just a little too loose. I 'd like to lose part of the right side and maybe a bit off the top. But I like the yellow of the shovel and the little touch of detail in the pants. The bit of movement in the one foot is nice as well.

I like the asymmetry created by the volume on the right and wouldn't want to lose any of the history from the top, so no more than a millimetre clean up there! Overall, there is enough context and detail to keep me happy. The diverging angles of the broom and shovel add to the human element in the bottom half. I'm a little bit contrary over motion blur and find this a little bit as though he is doing an early morning work out of the Hokey Cokey!

Does he come in from one of those dreaded banlieues on the outskirts I wonder? I don't expect you to have the answer!

No strong reaction from me on this one. The purple and yellow - yes. The angles - yes. But the overall effect? I think I need more story.

Not doing a great deal for me either. Without the title this could be anywhere and not knowing intimately this Arc I'm at a loss with this tight crop. As part of a series it may have a stronger impact but on its own it leaves me wanting to see much more...which I suppose is a good thing!

I'm struggling a bit with this one. I like the colors, both the purple and yellow and the cool tiles vs. the warm monument. I'm not really relating to the anonymous figure though.

interesting reactions. I carried this image back in my mind. I had already decided I liked it before processing it or even looking at it again.

I was originally captivated by the brush and pan and was busy taking pictures when this bloke came along and destroyed the composition! I just got this one before he disappeared into a door at the base.

I liked it because I caught him in the act, the tools were clear and there was a bit of incongruity in the cleaning of this monument. Oh well.....................

Looking at this without the title, it has a bit of a haunting look, with the hooded and concealed person carrying a broom. And the bit of movement to the leg creates some life to the image. I think I would like to have the person to the right, coming into the larger space than the left and leaving, but that in and of itself does creat some additonal tension.
