An Airedale

Kamiyamacho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.
Comments:
Funny, yes, but the receding columns provide an interesting graphic element as well, and the dog certainly seems to be standing guard. I am curious about the choice of focus point though. Did you focus in front of the dog on purpose?

I hope he did, because its a significant part of the success of the photo. I mean, what is the subject here? Title aside, this is a picture of a building which is brought to life by the 'dog'. I don't think that a picture of the dog would have been as humorous or successful.
Another fine square.
It is the incongruity of the dog in this setting that makes this: just to find a 'third way' I would say that the focus could be anywhere and provide acceptable variations. However, I do like the receding focus. Our ambassador in Chile had a couple of these, which caused her staff some consternation, especially when they were still puppies. However, they survived Pinochet's arrest in London and rioting outside the residence in Santiago.
A bit more like Brit brickwork but still recognisably Japanese.
A delight -- the "dog" does indeed bring the building to life.
My family had an airedale when I was young so this resonates with me perhaps even a little more than it would otherwise.
Thanks for the comments. This building houses the Shibuya Dog Grooming Academy as well as a vets, pet shop and pet hotel. The Airedale has a little Scottie as company in the next recess along. Focus was on the tip of the nose and shot at around F8.

I took a photo of the Scottie too and it will be my frontpage photo at www.akikana.com for a few days.
