Looking for her ride

Comments:
I feel her pain. been there, done that. It is cold, wet, miserable.
Yet, by standing there that way, she has hope and that's the positive thing in it.
The cold misery of that slush seeps out of the photo. There are interesting details about her person: the clothes she wears, the black bin bag and the item on her shoulder (not sure what it is).
The centrality of her figure works: try and escape the fact that she's there and you can't.
Brrrr. The color palette here appeals to me and the subject matter is interesting -- I like the texture of the dirty, slushy snow. Unlike John, I might have preferred the woman to be less centered.
It does create a feeling of chill, slight despondency and expectation.
We had a judge last week who rather went on about blank skies. Why do so many obsess about blank skies?
The color palette is fascinating, those deep browns and greens work well with her jacket and scarf.
At least she has the right boots for waiting in the snow.
The colour palette was the first thing that struck me about this. It's all so flat save the middle character. Positioning in the centre is breaking those 'rules' but you most definitely get away with it. As John says, you cannot escape her but there is interest in her surroundings to make you try and do so. Simple scene with many layers to peel off. Well seen.
Thank you all for your comments (and sorry that I have not been participating this last week or so). As you may have guessed, an image (from the car window) made in China during their 'horrible' blizzard (many of them have not been to Chicago during their winters). There is room on the left, but after cropping and looking at the two versions, this had the stronger impact on me, thus the reason for the post & for the feedback on my decision.
