Another Wall

Higashi-sumida, Sumida-ku, Tokyo.
Comments:
This looks like a paper negative. I'm intrigued.
As to the subject matter - one has to think 'how very Japanese'.
I'm in two minds about the scratched block. Presumably it was something on the block, but it ends up looking like a photographic flaw.
A book cover this one. Definitely.

Me too. This seems a bit darker and moodier than your normal line of work. I like it.
Very scrumptious. The juxtaposition of the two walls works well as do the two tonal values. The lone shrub is very much like something in a Japanese print. The positioning of the bamboo segment to the right is more difficult: it may be because the verticals are not straightened so that the lower right hand side looks out of kilter with the rest. If they were straightened then a bit of the bamboo would go, maybe too much.
... with the bricks?
Kidding aside, ditto what Colin said, except the scratch. It looks natural to me and certainly adds to the whole.
Like a wonderful etching. John's word "scrumptious" works for me, too. I would hang this wall on my wall.
The fine filigree contrasts beautifully with the blocks.
I like John's comment The lone shrub is very much like something in a Japanese print
Thanks for the comments. This is XP2 shot in to the sun. The initial scan was very flat so it was a pleasant surprise to see it all appear with a few tweaks of the levels. I checked the negative and that mark is on the block. This is pretty close to how I'd like to photograph in Japanese woodblock style. I hope to find some more opportunities on my travels.
