Oh Look!

Comments:
I hope you rewarded the dog for posing! Did that boy manage to bend his knees in time? This is a very ingenious groyne and a new style - no? It obviously appeals to children. I like the sweep from top to bottom: from the lazy curl of the small waves, through the activity of the children, along the piles and their shadows to the dog. The latter is placed as though it has just joined to look in from the outside too.
"I hope you rewarded the dog for posing"... I hope not as it is looking the wrong way. Strong geometry and harsh light really leave me wanting something more to throw this off a little. With the dog the other side of the fence it may have got it. As it is, it is still has strong interaction between the human and canine - just wish he had a little more tail in.
I did consider correcting the dog's tail. I have series of images as various children and adults jumped over the groin. For quite a number the dog is in the same position, looking in the same direction but with its tail in different stages of 'wag'. Good old PS.
The boy's position provides a bit of suspense -- he almost seems to be casually walking in mid air instead of jumping.
I also wish for all of the dog's tail -- and I think if it curved the opposite direction would keep me in the picture there. Otherwise, nicely designed.
I looked up "groyne". Stan said the few he's seen locally are not at all as interesting as this one.
Action, suspense, tension, light, design...but I don't like the result. Hmm, can't work out why exactly.
I'm not bowled over by the colour palette, and the dog's face could be more distinct, but that can't be it, surely?
For me, this would be more interesting if all the figures - dog included - weren't looking in the same direction. The zigzag makes me think back and forth, but the concerted gaze of the figures breaks that pattern.
Catching the dog looking at the leaping boy, you wonder what the dog will do next? Fido does look interested!
My first look, I had not realized that the boy was in mid-air, so this image was not connecting with me. So for me, a little more boy-blurr might have helped and the dog's tail is a non-issue for me. The image has an odd balance for me.
