Calshot Velodrome

Comments:
The way the spokes 'freeze' is intriguing - one expects a 'whoosh' streaming out behind. Good use of the symmetry of the construction here. Even the cracks at the top are symmetrical! Do all riders wear yellow to provide a nice colour counterpoint to the green and blue?!!

At a Photograhers Exchange meeting a couple of days ago, a number of images had a blurred aspect similar to this. It was repeatidly stated that photography is one of those mediums that can give you a sense of real time in a still. This does that very well for me. I like the composition of the bike not quite in the center, providing some more intended motion and anticipation.

Not to harp on the spokes, but they make a stylish pattern in combination with the texture of the wood.

Very little to say about this. Perfect.

Doug - I'm not sure that I agree with your point about a sense of time. To me this is still a moment. An abstraction from the stream. A still.

Wonderful as well! Just enough on the right hand side for the cyclist to move in to. There's obviously a lot of curves at work here but I do like the top green edge and how it meanders in to the yellow suit of the cyclist. I'll happily harp on about those spokes and the patterns they make with the wood.

Love that wood floor, and yes, the spokes effect. Great how the stripes intersect just right with the rider.

Oddly, I don't really get the sense of forward movement from this. He could even have been riding backwards for all I can tell. (That is not a criticism.)
