wind in my sale

Comments:
I wish I knew what the word should be for a 'cacophony' of colours.
There is a recession of colour to the left where the 'assault/impact' diminishes, almost a calming feeling as I go down the road.
There is no ignoring of this image, it does sock me in the eyes.
A symphony of colours methinks. I feel the same way as Rex with this. All that colour should not work but it does given the 'delicate' pastels in the background. Save the colour the photograph lacks another strong subject which rather lets it down.
Thank goodness for the gray walkway, and this from one who enjoys color as a subject!
The contrast between this outrageous shop front and the plain-jane muted buildings beyond is what saves this for me from being a case of too much of everything. As Guy said though, I do think a "real" subject would improve it.
I see this as two photographs. One is about color. The other is the joke of the title. I'm not sure that both can work out in the same photograph as the colors overwhelm everything else going on. Convert it to B&W and the joke could stand, although I'm not sure which photo I like better.
Wow, a very colorful image and I like the title, works well with this image. I like the color, but the wind as shown is a little static, nice to have had a longer exposure and some blurr. I also find distracting the chrome thing at the lower right corner and almost prefer taking off a little of the entire left edge, as distracting. Kinda agree with others about not much beyond the documentation.
When you mean red, you mean red! I hope my monitor will recover. Contrarily to others, I wonder if turning right and filling the frame with the shop would not reinforce the impact and fully make it the subject, relieving the need for something else.
Thanks for comments - some of which need reading between the lines!
I wasn't sure whether you would be left on the floor Stephane; I hope your monitor recovers.
Matt - in addition to the two pictures there is a third story here, which I'll come to.
This is 'Random Collection' (name visible on poster stand), a shop on the edge of the small country (and university) town of Lampeter, where Jana has been going about every 6 weeks or so for back tweaking. The vast majority of Welsh housing is drab, if not ugly (as Colin will vouch): there are exceptions such as Tenby around the harbour. Lampeter is not one of the worst and its small high street (about 100 yards following the pavement) has some reasonable small town houses but tails off into the usual nondescript grey C20 mish-mash off the 'High'.
I've shot something of this shop on and off for about six months (yes - her back is nearly better!) but this, taken just after Christmas, was unusual in that there was the sale going on, the light was very strange (overcast and it rained within 1/2 an hour, yet vivid) and it was blowing. The choice of clothing gave a colour blend that challenged to say the least - but ultimately did not clash. So what I wanted was a portrayal of the Matisse-like colours and a feel for the wind. The contrast between this building and the usual lack of colour in the country would only be evident (I have to admit) if displayed as part of a wider collection about modern Wales.
So, I wouldn't want to cut off anything to the left nor swing more to the right but understand that those were options. I'm not sure that motion blur would have been useful here as a lot of items would have been blurred!
PS If you want to see vivid colour, go to the Magnum site and follow essays through to Constantine Manos!
