For Stéphane

Some time ago, Stéphane set a challenge (on my blog) about creating photos on cloudless sunny days. This is a part of my answer: filter the light.
Dublin 1 - Holyhead

Except that this is Holyhead. We live an hour from Fishguard and it was our intention to cross to Rosslare and catch a train to Dublin. But the best that the combined brains of UK and Ireland could come up with was that trains left Rosslare ten minutes before the ferry got in. So - drive to Holyhead and catch the ferry to Dun Laoghaire. Holyhead is neglected: the ferry terminal sits in detached modern glory while over this walkway is a town that might still be in the '50s. The low cloud and drizzle didn't help!

Cardigan Bay

Cardigan Bay as seen from the first floor of the foyer at the Arts Centre in the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. It was a cold, windy day in March and I was trying to include swirling plastic bags but they wouldn't come into the field of view that I wanted. I have deliberately given it quite a contrasty conversion.

Back!

After the great welcome I got here I found nothing better to do than vanish. I apologize for that mark of rudeness. Different things happened: a new job that proves as demanding as it is interesting, a new apartment means I am in the middle of a moving and I started doing some portraiture, a project I had for a long time. It started with a book of 13 different people that of course took much more time than anticipated. The book has generated a few orders I am now in the process of scheduling.
I come back with some more recent work. This is not a natural for me because it takes me a long time to decide a photograph is worth to print and show to others. By a long time I mean between a few weeks and a few years, either being uncommon. More like a good 6 months.
This one was taken last Winter. I like the way the lines in the sky seem to show the way. I liked the light, the moment, the atmosphere.
