Katydid Nymph

The body was about the size of a grain of rice. The image is a composite of a number of shots in order to achieve extreme depth of field at such close range. The long antennae were shot separately as well and stitched on.

Kinjo's Parking Lot, New Year's Eve

Technically terrible -- this was one of only a few images from that night where I didn't use flash. But it is my favorite and best conveys the scene as I remember it.

Revenge Weapons

Taken this afternoon at Hendon RAF museum. The boy insisted that we went again. This time I went with the wide angle lens and refused to use flash ... got to spice things up somehow.

Anyhow, I was struck by this wall. The whole notion of revenge weapons .... rarely used against the military .... how far are we ever really from this kind of thing? Metallica sums it up well in the lyrics to one of their songs, "there are things inside without a care".

Eye in the Sky (03360031)

I wish I gone a touch wider with this photo, but when I took it I wasn't thinking about how much like an eye this thing looks.

LBBG on Redington Beach

Thank you for the opportunity to join this excellent group. My photography has been mainly nature-oriented -- many birds and insect closeups. I look forward to expanding and experimenting, -- getting opinions on a variety of images through participation here.

For my first post I was tempted to put up an image that I already know Colin likes, resisted that, and put one up taken only a week ago. Lessor Black-backed Gull is quite rare around here, so as a birder, I was pleased to see and photograph my first just ten minutes from home. I'm curious to know if the photo holds any interest to others for whom this may be a common bird and/or who may not share my attraction to birds.

Porthgain

About the only day out for photography in January! A small harbour village on the North Pembroke coast. The coast path comes down from the left round the end of the harbour and up to the right.

Glen Beag

I'm not sure what the local word is for this, but I'm standing in what Cumbrians would call an intake. That is an upland stone enclosure for the temporary holding of sheep.

I've done rather more manipulation on this photo than I'm accustomed to doing, so any comments on the naturalness or otherwise of the result would be appreciated.

Avoiding the Problem

August Bank Holiday Monday

The end of August. Newport, Pembrokeshire. The dog knew that I was there but not the couple. A strong wind made life quite difficult for the dinghy sailors.
