end of Sunday, Petticoat Lane

Comments:
The juxtaposition of the manequin and the reflected man is magic.

I echo Rex. As a portrait of this sort of place it is really well done (as a technical point, I bet colour balancing this was difficult).

The hangers above the mirror, although incidental, are a nice cap to the whole thing.

What is this place? Some sort of outerwear flea-market? A refugee camp for coats?

Matt - the most well-known East London market: not much more than a flea market but cheap goods, stacked high. Twenty dollars for a jacket here as opposed to three hundred a mile further West. Plenty of refugees in the area; but of the human variety.

I really like the reflected man and plastic 'nude', but my eyes keep wanting to wander over to the bright exterior in the upper left region, which is a sad distraction. Well seen.

How wonderful -- you positioned the mirror and reflected man perfectly. I suspect this would work without the color, but I like the yellows set off with that one piece of blue.

As Colin said -- must have been fun to color balance this with two types of lighting.

Was this posted in B&W first? The portrait works due to the incomplete mannequins. That illumination in the back is nearly brought under control with the rack of jackets but does need a little more claming down if possible as the empty passageway is leading you right there. It does push you back in for a while. Well seen.

Akikana - no to your question on b/w. As it is nearly monochrome, I felt that the small flashes of colour were an important element in the picture.

Colin and Christina - funnily enough, there was no need for anything other than a small tweak on WB.

Thanks for overall comments. Shot at ISO 800 there was no chance to control the light outside. But my memory holds plenty of images from the past with part of the picture blown out by choice!!!

I think that's why this works for me. That blinding light makes this place all the more surreal.

An interesting B&Y photograph.

The guy in the mirror is almost like he is sneaking in.
