Bainbridge 2 (Wet)

Comments:
I'm there, I'm tired, I'm muddy. I need a beer.

Perfect.

This reminds me a winter day in the Lake District. That light (or lack of), atmosphere, water everywhere.

The signpost is just perfectly placed.

The lean of the post and angle of the sign along the slope is excellent. Well done for keeping the lens dry! More than the tens of thousands of 'landscapes' littering magazines and websites this is very true to the British countryside...as is the rain! But it's been dry ever since you were there!

This oozes with atmosphere, the sky, tonality, the visual highwater of the creek with the far trees now in the water, reinforced with the glowing puddle on the right, and of course the water-weather damaged post, pointing to the horizon and the river source. To be honest, I think that I would also have made this landscape image without the post to consider as well. I would also like to be there, but when it might not be soooo wet;- )

I probably would have made this sans the sign post and then ended up with a much less interesting image -- agree with the easily felt atmosphere. I can imagine the soft wet ground and damp air. I'm only missing the temperature -- a wild guess, say around 50 degrees? (Farenheit) Lovely.

50 degrees - this must be summer! Obviously without the sign there is not much to work with to lift this out of the ordinary. Would like to see a little more detail in the destinations on the sign. I'm with Colin on this - I hope there's a pint of warm beer waiting in the distance. even though the sign is pointing you through the scene (in the right direction) it's angle is another nod in the right direction as if imploring you to look/go further.

At first, I felt like nothing in this was quite sharp enough. As I kept looking, that fuzziness started to feel right. And then my toes started to get cold. You've conjured up this place for me.

This seems like the kind of place one could make use of a panoramic camera. What is going on off to the right?

This is at Semer Water, we were going to have lunch on the beach, it was under water and raining! That is the Bain River.

This image is manipulated quite a bit. The exposure was aimed at preventing what features existed in the sky from disappearing. The writing on the sign was difficult to read by eye in the available light. Straight from the camera it was unreadable. Levels Curves and saturation were used liven it up and make the sign partly readable. The sky was left pretty much alone. Close examination says if I want to print this then a further tidy up is required, some artefacts of the masking remain.

I am pleased with the comments; I had a lot of self doubt about this image.
