Path Not Taken

Comments:
I love the theme and the way you treat it here. I wish for a more interesting light but tha's nitpicking.
Thanks about the theme. In retrospect, I found myself working with this theme a lot in Marburg. But now I'm in Shanghai;- )
For the light, I had to work with the overcast day and make the best of it. One of those travel days and this is the ONLY time I can take this photo, so tried to do the best I could with what I had.
I look around and can;t really concentrate in a single point of reference. There are a couple of shapes appearing in the hedgerow (or should that be a rustle) and a lovely wooden fence nearly consumed. This could really do with some human subject matter climbing the stairs to the right. Oh, and this slopes off to the left!
A scene that makes me wish to explore and come in closer -- the amount of detail is nearly overwhelming. I wonder if it might work better if the image were divided in two and each result displayed side by side.
Picking up on Christina's point; is it the juxtaposition of the path to nowhere with the ascending path that provides the major chunk of interest?
It is for me.
I appreciate the diversity of comments. First, I am dealing with creating this issue on my old portable and I have major issues keeping the monitor calibrated, so you may be seeing this image in a much better 'light' than I. But I felt challanged to contribute on the fly.
Second, these two different paths were very interesting side by side. My brother would be singing, "you take the high road, and I'll take the low road, and we will meet in the middle.." Also I like the contrast of the very old path and the relatively new steps. Last there is the straight and narrow versus the crooked path. All parrallels for our dicissions in life;- )
I think that the two paths should be both in the picture. The scene has quite a rundown feel, as is often the case when ivy takes over a an area like this. I wonder why the gate is there.
