Kate in the Office (04210031)

Comments:
I like the clothes horse!

Are you happy with the skin tones? I ask in the wake of the discussion we had last time. Until I started going over a mental check list I hadn't even thought about them but maybe the light isn't as direct or bright here so it is not an issue.

I like the spontaneity, pose and background. A conventional shot would have had her over to the right but the use of the space top right makes for an interesting composition.

I am, finally, happy with the skin tones.

By clothes horse do you mean our super high tech clothes dryer in the background?

Did 'clothes horse' not cross the Atlantic? Anyway, yours looks slightly more high tech than most!

My first thought on seeing "clothes horse" was the meaning given in the last line here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clotheshorse

but when I saw the image, I realized you meant the frame in the back and not the person!

Yep, clothes horse to me means someone that has a lot of clothes, which is about the exact opposite of Kate and I. Now that I know the other meaning of the term, I'm tempted to rename this picture.

Our current drying rack, or clothes horse if you will, can't accommodate nearly as much as the one we had in Korea, which seemed capable of holding enough clothing for ten people.

BTW, most people in the US think we are nuts for using such a thing, but the dryers in the basement of our apartment building are pricey, don't work very well, and are rough on our clothes.

The lines of the clothes hourse follows the lines of her arms, but from her expression and location of her hand, hard to tell if happy or checking her paluse if she is not feeling well. I find the things in the lower left corner a little distracting.

I'd go with "happy". A very engaging image -- beyond the interest of the subject, there are many nice triangular shapes here. I like the dark space to the left, also. It is all working well for me.

An everyday moment, at least I wish for you both, because she expresses lightness and joy going about in her life.

Sorry for getting here late. Yes to the skin tones. Yes to the moment.

I just get the message of relaxed happiness. Just used in a good way.

The elbow and the clothes horse have a pleasing complimentary angle working together. The straight top of the right arm acts as a strong boundary to keep the rest of the darkness at bay. The four fingers on the throat are a little threatening in an otherwise delicate pose. I'm enjoying this a lot and the wrinkles in the bottom of the shirt made by those shown digits makes it more so.
