Grey Day

Comments:
In contrast to the last shot, I think that this one shows too much. The scene is described, not hinted at and my imagination has nowhere to go.

I agree with Colin on this, and it seems to tilt to the right;- )

Despite the tilt and losing the mystery of the last one, I like this quite a bit -- the color palette appeals to me for one thing. Also the design of it is very strong.

I wonder if reactions might have been different had this been posted on its own, without the other before it.

Not just a grey day but wet as well judging by the spots on the lens.

I am not sure that I agree with Colin's comment about showing too much - either in general or in particular here. A retreat from description can be compensated for by hinting but one is not necessarily a substitute for the other. Here, the accessory to description is the nature of the light and colours resulting from the weather conditions. The line of the arch of the bridge occupies a significant part of the picture effectively and also leads to the buildings on the other side.

I think it might tilt a bit to the left.

The filter was very wet, I removed the 'spots' on the bridge but left the sky unrepaired.

That is Nora with the pink brolly and a lady called Margriet who was our hostess.

I would not have posted it but for the mystery surrounding the previous shot.

I am not sure colour helps a lot here. Also, I think the two ladies in the foreground spoil somewhat the arch that is, for me, the main subject.

That arch is definitely interesting!

This I find much stronger than the previous version. The arch holds the picture up. Would prefer that the models were a little further up the path though. Again, what doesn't become clear on first glance in the distant mist is an added extra.

Not as much mystery in the composition, but perhaps the mist makes up for that a bit.
