Vacant Lot

Comments:
Some of these place you photograph are so alien to me. What is this place? Are those trees for real? Is the landscape really that stark. Is the sky that beautiful?
I find a pleasing symmetry in some shape between the ground and the clouds, with the tree connecting them. I swear I am on nothing.
Is this the same site as 'broken fence' from a different angle? There's a good tie in from the track coming out of the front of the picture and sweeping round to the top of the slope. The wire makes good sense here!
That is one big pineapple in there. Sweeping track, mountainous vista and detailed sky are all 'safe'. But two little sections keep me interested in this - the dwellings off to the left and that telegraph pole/wire. Wonderful tones.
This has a surreal feel and those trees are quite incongruous. That track leads me into and through the image. The sky needs bottling for future use! :-)
I go with what akikana said here. At first glance a 'safe' picture with a great sky and tones, but then details reveal themselves and make the whole more complicated and interesting. I got the wire quite late on in viewing, but once seen it changes the picture a lot - what is tethered to what...
Stephane, and I was not on anything when I created this either;- )
This is a completly different place than broken trees. As to the clouds, these occur due to the coastal mountain range and I try to take advantage of them when I can, but I also get lucky too.
My first exposure, I tried to eliminate the phone/power line, but then found that I preferred it in the picture. I like it there, but not sure exactally why, but it does seem to help the picture.
I also changed my position for this exposure as well to try to use the road to fully effect, thanks.
Thanks for all of your feedback and it confirms that I am on the right track with this series.
I admire this image very much -- not a typical landscape, beautifully composed, and with lots of interesting features. It has excellent "flow". I also love the tonality.
