urban space 1

The Westway (A40), near Paddington and passing by the Grand Union Canal. The building in the distance is Trelick Tower.
Comments:
And that's me commuting along on the road on top (I worked in a hospital at each end of the Westway for a while, so I did a lot of Westway miles).
The whole Paddington basin area is interesting, although I don't think you can get public access to the best bits. This shot makes me want to explore.
Nice curves.
I really like the contrasting roads, the one on the bottom sweaying to the right that takes you to the far tower and the canal (?) on the right, as the top road takes you off to the left. There are all sorts of textures to hold your attention and this image is nicely balanced for me. I keep finding little parts that suck me into this image.
Cool place. Makes me want to explore as well. The way the tower anchors the turn to the right and the overhead turn to the left creates a sense of distance. Nice reflection in the water as well.
I love the complementary curves on the right almost squeezing the trees/reflections out of the picture. The three white zones seem to be a powerful path for my eye to follow into the image. It all comes together well for me.
Works for me as well. Liking the contrast of textures -- trees, water, concrete, brick. The graffiti is another interesting element that adds human interest and depth. Nicely done.
It has all been said before (sorry for being so late). The curves, the divergence, the dark and bright, concrete and foliage and that tower at the end of it like the destination.
That sliver of highlight on the left would ordinarily be too much. But given the dark tones of the overpass it adds much need light to the proceedings. Lovely sweeping curves but no angles to speak of to ascertain their cos(ign)... Distant tower adds a very strong pin to hold it all together.
Thanks for the comments. I wondered when I bought the wide angle lens as to whether there would really be any use for it: this seems to be some justification although I struggle to find original creative uses!
Akikana - well spotted - all the angles derived are from curved lines!! I'm not sure I covered that in A-level maths (math for Americans).
