South Bank revisited

The man standing appeared to be the resident pain-in-the-proverbial. Around six in the evening.

Comments:
I like how the pain in the proverbial 's towering stance echoes the building in the background.

The gesture and the stance echo work, but the relationship between the figures doesn't. It is more like he is conductor than pain :-)

From the picture, it is very hard to come a conclusion as to how this person is being preceived, as there seems to be an antimated discussion, but no unhappiness. In fact it almost appears that the girl on the left is having eye contact with the photographer and perhaps due to the clown makeup, smiling. but then, about what?

The image is in a wide enough view that it provides a context in which this mini-performance is occuring.

The 'pain' is blocking out too much of the crowd which is more interesting than his black garb. There are plenty of colours in that small crowd yet they seem a little muted - the whole scene needs a little punch.

I seem to be missing something. The PIA seems to be obscuring an interesting group of people where at least two are wearing an unusual garb with rather extraordinary makeup. Aren’t they the picture?

There's obviously some tension between form and content here!!

Rex - I'm not sure whether your remark is aimed at the photographer or those commenting. There are four people there apart from PIA; the two on the right being male (perhaps boyfriends) and dressed in everyday clothes so nothing is lost by PIA standing in front of them. Without him I doubt I would have taken this.

For those who are unsure as to the relationship between the group and PIA I would say that the girls' smiles are slightly rictus-like while the seated man we can see is not smiling: the body language is not participatory.

In hindsight I should have called this 'off duty' as it was supposed to be complementary to Colin's 'camera phones' and give more visual information: these girls perform along the South Bank.

Akikana - I'm still musing over your colour/punch remark.

I do not fully understand who the black garbed person is, but his dark shape has taken over this image. I'd also like to see the rest of the group. The contrast between the girls' bright costumes and his solid blackness would probably be more interesting to me were the lawn not quite so bright yellow-green, it seems almost an unnatural color.

I apologize for falling behind in here --it may continue to for a bit, since I'll be out of town for a few days this week and have much work before I go.

I've been back to the RAW and can see where both Christina and Akikana are coming from. The green could be better and the exposure didn't do this any favours.

The green could be better

it looks super green now, what is better?

Autosuggestion Rex - I haven't altered anything!
