Morning Outlook

(BTW I will be traveling extensively for next three weeks, thus I should be commenting but maybe not positing images. I am going to try nevetheless to post, but the results will vary;- ) especially while in China)

Comments:
...and clearly awake. Which is more than I ever am when I trip over the hotel newspaper.

I'm in two minds about this. I applaud the image making anywhere approach without being excited about the specific shot.

Lovely curve on that right hand door frame.

A touch of the blues. Maybe not exciting, but who said a photo needs to be? Presumably the curves are from a wide angle lens?

In a hundred years' time (assuming it hasn't burned down in the interim) someone will look back at this and wonder about the choice of carpets!

I'm not sure that the air quality in China is better than California at present but I hope it goes well.

I really enjoy this. The two papers, the two carpet patterns, the two doors, the lighting. Very well seen.

That distortion is revealing too. Who needs better corrected optics after all? :-)

The businessman's morning, the utilitarian room, the tv, the en suite, mini bar.............

It is an evocative image.

Regrefully, I could only make this composition with the lens at the full 17mm (28 mm equivalent), thus the curvy doors and jams. A little bit of PSCS3 doing to keep the carpet texture which I think helps ground the image.

Morning blues? Some effective lighting and objects to lead you through the scene. I find myself wanting to lose the door handle on the front left. It's inclusion subconsciously makes me want to close the door. However, a little flick of the door stop on the right may stop that. The highlight on the rear wall invites me through the door eventually. Overall I'm enjoying this!

"It's inclusion subconsciously makes me want to close the door. "

I had the same feeling.

I at first wanted to correct the distortion, but I now think that would be a mistake. It adds a bit of sinister fun house look to this.

The blue tint contributes to this as well. These places just aren't right; cold and moldy smelling seems to be the standard for hotels at the moment, no matter how big the TV or bed may be.

A scene instantly recognized by any one who has traveled (even me), -- as such, it carries strong associations depending on how one feels about their experiences with hotels. I don't get "cold and moldy" as Matt does, so the blue perhaps doesn't work as well for me here.

The door handle got a bit in my way, too. I don't think this would work very well without the newspapers.
