School/Scholio/Ó÷ïëåßï

Comments:
This is fun -- great viewing before I turn in. Will return with more.

Presumably not in Hampshire. The door alone is very much a photo society favourite subject: the two red circles are certainly different. It's all slightly unsettlng visually - the angle from the POV making a horizontal of the bottom of the partially-open door, the circles not balanced and the two of them squeezing an already narrow door.

In many ways it is rather bizarre, as though some political movement had painted their sign to warn off the headmaster and teachers. But if one squints one's eyes and abstract it there is an attraction to it.

Is that door unusually narrow or unusually tall?

I echo John's comments about this being visually unsettling. I don't know if it is an artifact of being a photo or whether the original scene had the same feel to it, but I get the impression that the circles are in a plane in front of the wall.

I'm assuming this is not a Photoshop special, but I bet you'd have trouble convincing a club judge of that.

I'm not finding it unsettling, though it is rather odd. And I agree that the circles don't quite look like they are on the wall -- more like stamped on the photo.

This reminds me a bit of primitive folk art with the patterns and colors and the way nothing is quite where it "should" be. I think it's very enjoyable viewing.

This has that painters allusion, with reds that come at you and the blues that recede, which is actual visual occurance due to the wavelengths of the colors. Thus with light pink walls, the red floats off the page which is enhanced by the blue door pulling back into the page. A very nice 3-D effect.

and I really like the textures and colors of the door, as I am frequent old door photographer. Egads, another series? oh, never mind....

The three elements just hang/float. At least the door has a small strand of wire supporting it. All very basic but at the same time somewhat troubling on the eye. The door is not centred and has some very strange angles going on, the prints left and right are just there - they are slightly different coloured and composition. Not sure I'd put this on the wall but from simple beginnings there ended up plenty in this to keep me interested.
