Indian Rocks Beach, September evening

Comments:
If it were not for the bodyboard clipping the head of somebody in the background I would say that this was posed...you do have an assignment with the local tourist board don't you :-)
Talking of the board - in an odd way, the colour makes the rest of the shot. Not just the fact that it is blue, but the brightness. It provides a colour highpoint and allows the rest of the picture to be pastel without seeming flat.
Are those sharks' fins I see circling off shore?! Then, is that board an accessory or is there really enough surf for it to be used?
It feels as though that group is very definitive. It's certainly well placed and the feel for the balmy evening is strong. We may be at the other end of the Gulf Stream but somehow it's just not the same!
John - not sharks. The web image is too small for details, but those are more kids out there in the water to the right of the group, and three of them are in a bit of a huddle.
The boards are skimboards, for use in shallow water. If you're interested, I added a link to a photo of a different teen, different evening, using one. You can look up skimboarding on Wikipedia for more info than you probably want.

Colin - the sand on this beach is likely not pretty enough for the county tourist council. For that I'd have to go a bit north to Clearwater where the sand is whiter and they clean up the wrack line. ;-)
I think a posed shot would be slightly less crowded.
Colin is on track with the comment regarding the blue board. Without that bit of poppy color, this would seem too flat. The puff of cloud above their heads also helps, as it goes some way towards balancing out the mass of the group.
Nice image of a bunch of kids enjoying the end of day on the beach. The pastel colors work well with this image. Not unlike Southern California, perhaps with a few more clouds vs our late afternoon fog bank.
The tone of this image is evocative and has appeared in others of your images. It has a warm and happy feeling.
The tones are indeed quite beautiful and soothing. As the crowd is quite shadowed and given I can see where they are looking I hazard that landscape rather than portrait would bring this together a little stronger compositionally?
