A Door

Ishigaki-jima, Okinawa, Japan

Comments:
This has the simplicity that I like and my curiosity is aroused by the speaker.

"ENTER!"

Silky smooth finish. A narrow but engaging tonal rendering, offset well by the black light bracket and some interesting lines.

I also note that there is no door bell, no name plate or number and that the frosted glass aperture is about as narrow as those arrow slits in Welsh castle walls. I'm not sure that admittance is welcome. But maybe it's all so new that the details are not yet in place.

Nice tonality. Nice geometry. A slightly clinical feel. Very clean The loudspeaker is an odd touch.

I can't quite work out whether we are indoors or outdoors here. That could be a caretaker's door in a shopping centre or similar.

Whatever, it is an engaging image with a touch of the surreal.

I could just echo what Rex said. Love the arrangement of the shapes, all so neat and clean. The stone adds a lot without being too busy.

There is simplicity and large tonal values with the balance of the interesting textures of the flooring and coving. I just hope that I am not too hypersensitive, but this image seems tilted to the right. That creates a tension for me, okay if that is intended.

This was taken at the Ishigaki port whilst waiting for our ferry to take us over to Iriomote-jima. The building is very new...give it a couple more typhoons and it will not be looking so 'clean' - I'm standing with my back to the sea and this is a pretty exposed wall.

I'm having all kinds of fun/problems with verticals/horizontals, so Doug, you're not being hypersensitive. Sometimes I need it that way, others I just wish they'd all line up as required.

Thanks for all the comments.
