Anna In the Mirror (04020023)

Comments:
A pity we don't see more of Anna or get closer to her! That is not a criticism by the way. I like the details resulting from a seemingly casual shot: the various plastic bags, an empty waste-bin, a woman's bag by the telephone, a rather large TV screen and a spare leg. The lines on the ceiling continued in the mirror are a nice touch but (apart from Anna) it is the art-deco lamp-stand that gives an exotic touch.
The lines in the ceiling reflected in the mirror add to a feeling that the mirror is in fact a window on to another room. A room with better decor, more interesting people and tidier!!!
:-)
Not enough subject here for me. Notwithstanding the web presentation and scale, I want to see more of the person and the lamp. The surrounds add context for sure, but the context could be hinted at with less space I think.
I liked this instantly on opening. The mirror drew me right in on the subject as if it was a painting on the wall. (and much more interesting than the "art" in frame) Kind of picture in picture, I don't really care about the items around the outside -- they did not register until after I'd taken in the scene in the mirror.
This is an interesting minimalist image with the image of the girl peeking out and making direct contact with the viewer. Picture within a picture. I might have tone down the left side to bring the viewer in to the mirror.
The mirror adds a lot of depth (and interest) to some fairly innocuous surroundings. If I could repeat the shot I'd ask for the legs to come of of the shot though and would also like to see a little less on the table. Even though Anna is quite small in the final shot she has a very strong facial presence. The curve on that lamp stem work well around the side of Anna's head. There is a lot to take in and I think a slightly less cluttered mirror scene would work much stronger. Well seen.
Everyone, thanks for the comments. Given a second go at this, I probably would have framed a little tighter, but I wanted more than just the mirror in frame.
