Bristol Planetarium

As an aside - if anybody has the time and skill to improve this Blogger template then let me know.

It was a horrible mess even before I hacked it late one night in a hotel bar. Eighteen months on things like the unclear links are winding me up :-)

A Hockney 'joiner' without the tedious multi-photo and glue stage.

The distribution of colour along the top is great.

I'm afraid Hockney came to mind for me as well, although this is a different idea of collage. It brings different views into one frame in an economical way. The right-hand frame would be less 'useful' if it weren't for the splash of red, which more than fulfils its purpose in giving a totality to the picture both for its colour and balancing the bollard bottom left. The shape of the planetarium is hinted at by the six glass sections.

I like the picture but a lot of the architecture on view is of the depressingly homogeneous post-modern nothingness!

I've no idea what I'm looking at - having followed the link yet - but I like the way the curve line draws your eye to the seated figures.

Colin, I'll take a look at the blogger template. I had a few ideas the other day.

My eyes fall the other way to matt's and pretty quick too. The split scenes are very effective and certainly works in this shot. As my eyes have left too quickly yet there is a plash of colour and some interest in the first pane left I need to return. That 'object for mooring boats' is very strong in holding this together. Without it I think I would have fallen off right and not returned. I'm also bad enough to think ahead a little and expect that pram to end up in the water within the second frame. From an initially uninspiring scene you have worked this very well.

I find this to be a very interesting image, with the different planes of focus. I think it's very cool. There is a lot going on and keeps my head spinning.

I very much like the idea of this and think it is well executed. Despite that, I don't seem to be all that interested in the scenery. No figure, building, or item holds my attention with the possible exception of what akikana calls the "object for mooring boats" in the lower left corner.
