Six gas meters sitting on a wall...

Hatagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Comments:
and if one gas meter should accidentally fall there will be five gas meters sitting on the wall..........

The simplicity and observation has beauty.

This has great appeal from a graphic design standpoint. I love the textures. Rex helped add more humor.

I was expecting a Star Wars title for this one; with someone looking over the wall with their back-up troopers waiting for word to attack!

I find the contrast between the foregound and back wall textures and tonalities very interesting to look at. The foreground wall is almost abstract.

At first I thought: what has this got to do with Japan? Despite seeing Doug's Star Wars connection, I find two strong elements here. The first is the wall which reminds me of the Japanese garden in Holland Park, despite this being blocks as opposed to stone, but it has the same feel and the construction is not British, that's for sure. The other element is the way the meters mimic (albeit at somewhat of a stretch of the imagination) Japanese script. A very powerful combination.

Is the odd one out their leader?

As I’m currently surrounded by young children wielding light sabres and dressed in ‘scary’ masks, I see this as a scene from an early sci-fi movie. A really early sci-fi movie :-)
