Bulrushes #1

After too long a break, I finally went shooting on the 4th in a local wetland area. Clouds and rain did not make for great light, but kept it fairly cool -- a pleasure to be out there.

So this is why it's called a wetland area?!
The drop certainly presses its case but the colours overall give it a run for its money. The cluster nearest us on the right might benefit from being in focus too; I find that it affects how one sees the right hand half of the picture.
Unlike John, I like the in&out focus of the leaf cluster with the hanging dew drop. The hanging drop does build up the suspense. As to the image, I agree with John about the conflict with the stuff on the left. Using my hand to "crop" the image on the screen, I wonder about making this a vertical image with just the cluster?
On the contrary. The clouds and rain made for excellent light.
You trip one of my dislikes - an object in the foreground which is out of focus. I find that I'm drawn to that blur and away from the lower part with the water drop.
I don't mind the stuff on the left which seems to help this be natural and not studio, but I'm less happy with the way that the curves don't quite resolve along the top edge.
Great use of colour - as always :-)
Thanks for the input. I'll put up another one from the same time for my next post in a day or so. Based on what's been said here, some of you might like it better, some maybe not!
Beautiful work. That raindrop is so powerful even though it takes up but a small part of the frame. I'm thinking that a portrait presentation of this shot would add even more power by adding a little more to the top of the plants and a lot more for that drop to fall through. Complimentary colours and a delightful background. Do I see a bug/spider in there?
