Boot Stitches

Nishihara, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Comments:
These boots were not made for walking. What a great ensemble - certainly entertaining! The strength of this is that it conjures up that sort of Japanese girl who is modern and into pop art as shopping accessory. But is it all about to go in the bin? Maybe she grew up, or else the stitching has gone on the inside.

One thing that comes through looking back over your Tokyo photos is the use of tiles everywhere.

Would those be the little creatures from Lilo & Stitch?

Another clever one for your book. NIcely executed, of course.

It did take me a minute to get the title connection, since I am not that familiar with the cartoon character, (thanks, Matt). But even without that, this image entertains.

Until I followed the hint of Lilo & Stitch I thought they were Gremlins.

I assume this is a pair of abandoned boots. Something is wrong with them or they are an obsolete fashion. I see this a lot with my fashion conscious daughter!

The two Gremlins are Stitch.

I did a series of shots at this front door over a number of weeks. Each saturday morning they'd be an interesting selection of rubbish to be thrown away. Felt sorry for these two guys who had outstayed their welcome though.

Thanks for the comments.

I found the image and reference to Stich very amusing. But I also found the composition troubling and not sure why. This image does not connect for me. I understand the relevance of the other trash on the side, but I guess I find the higher key (lighter) parts on the left distracting.

Ah, the referenced boots :-)

This has the air of consumerism gone mad, or, possibly, some children's infotainment about the evils of not recycling or somesuch.

There is a lot of Japan in this photo.
