Belleair Beach Belle

I like to take pictures at the beach around dusk. The woman is worth a closer look than this size can provide -- she is here: http://cgstudios.smugmug.com/gallery/431455#173805813-L-LB

I'm sorry about posting so close to my last, but I will be gone on a vacation this week. (Matt is going to the beach, I'm leaving it behind for the central part of the state)

Comments:
The color hues make this a nice photograph and interesting that you did not try to correct the color cast caused by the change in light. Nice composition as well.

By the way, the distant cloud formation could be interputed as radiating fire and smoke, because the young lady looks like "Hot Stuff" :- )

Doug -- did you happen to look at the detail link provided? I'm wondering that based on your comment -- the lady is not perhaps as young as she looks at first glance.

Christina, regardless of her current age and appearances, I think that the photograph still provides that metaphoric message. Just a little humor that I found buried in this photograph.

And yes, now looking at your smugmug image gallery and now back to this blog, I should not have included the word "young", but perhaps she is "young" relative to me! :- )

I do appreciate the humor, Doug -- and I imagine that she would appreciate the "hot stuff" comment, since she has put a lot of effort in on her appearance.

Could this be the quintessential photo of Florida? I love this: from the clouds to the condominium (or whatever) and the American woman. Do you know her or was she a 'find'? I wonder if she is a local or one of those who seeks out the sunbelt states in retirement?

A picture full of time and place.

I'm finding the colours a little off kilter. There's a lot of red in that cloud yet the lower third of the shot is very blue. Even though that red cup is but a small part of the over all it seems to fill a lot of space in my view. I'm also wanting a little more light on your model just to brighten her up a bit. Her face looks very sullen and the gaze to her palms adds to this.

I know that look 'cos I've got an MP3 too. Also I work on the relative age principle and she looks fine to me!!!!!!!

I'm never sure about colour cast correction when the colour is part of the message about the time of day, it looks like dusk.

That sky is straight out of a Maxfield Parish painting.

I'm back and will attempt to catch up in the next few days. Thanks for your comments.

About the color -- I could have "corrected" it, but then it lost the whole feeling of the time of day -- much of what I love about shooting at the beach in the evening is the way the bright colors look with the relative blue/grayness of the atmosphere. They may seem "off kilter" as Akikana says, but I like it!

John -- this lady was definitely a "find". I would guess that she lives in one of the high end homes on this relatively upscale beach. I did not mean to imply that I find her to be old (I'm likely in her age bracket!) -- just that she is older than she first appears to be. The dark, even tan, the hair color, the perfect pedicure and manicure, the gold watch, make up, and a beach chair that looks brand new -- she struck me as very well-maintained. (Such things take time, money, effort and discipline, Gentlemen.)

I know this is an old image but every time I go back through Stills looking for something I pause at this image.

I find it a very sexy/erotic image. Which might say more about me than the image!!!!! :-)

I think it is because it is a capture of the unaware, a private moment, a glimpse of the forbidden, a moment of someone else's life.

I like it very much.
