Another bird

This one sadly did not survive the window experience. Fledgling female chaffinch.

Comments:
I find this a very poignant image, essence of dead bird, unfulfilled, just so sad.

In my family I am the dead bird remover. A bird flew into our window, just a gentle bump was heard but then the bird could be seen on the patio. I was told to remove it, it lay there looking perfect, the breeze blew its feathers and made it look as if it were alive. I waited to see if it would recover, it did not. When I picked it up it was still warm. I was sad. This image brought back this memory.

I'm always distressed when a bird flies into the window and doesn't survive -- and I feel a bit guilty as well when it is my window.

You made quite a beautiful image out of a sad event.

With buzzards taking our ducklings and our dog having to be restrained from eating chicks, a fallen fledgling or a glass-concussed bird has to be rescued pretty fast.

Told about the subject, I can feel the density of the body and sense the feathers waving uselessly but, in reality, it is a near abstract image. The feather one up from the bottom keeps coming to me as the Lib Dem logo.

I prefer that it doesn't resolve itself into anything other than a study in shape, lightness and colour.

A very abstract image, much like your flowers and plants. I would not have not know what this was without the title. It has a nice quality to it, both with focus and coloring.

I thought this was plant life. After going through the comments and then reading the footnote I see it in a different light now. Very soft and welcoming which at the same time leaves me sad. The emptiness bottom left compounds this feeling.

Without the background information I'm sure that these impressions would not come through. Sometimes a photo needs some guidance other times it doesn't. Unfortunately, this shot works well either way so that must be a good thing!

Thanks for the comments everybody. I had been uncertain about whether to mention the subject matter - and from your comments I am reassured that there was no easy answer to that question.

We don't get many fatal bird strikes, but when we do I always put the corpse somewhere that I know that it will be recycled. However, this body is still there, so now I am worried about what has happened to 'our' Pine Marten.

Lovely texture and coloring, but I think just a touch more DOF might bring it all out.
