Tangled (03780016)

Comments:
ooohh… there’s a lot to like in this one. From the 'Christmas light' adorned tree on the left through to the vehicles on the right. Verticals by the truckload and so much fuzziness it’s downright sharp.

The two diagonals from bottom left and bottom right, converging behind the pole, create a highly charged feel. That has left me uncertain as to what this is trying to convey. Nominally, all the elements in view and the town itself are static or just letting life go by: the highly charged atmosphere flowing from the diagonals and the strong fuzziness created by the aggressive use of DOF both create an ongoing series of jolts.

It was the emotion of this that struck me. I have the feeling that this is a disused prison camp or something similar. The stark presentation of the fence post and wire is a powerful statement.

The 4X4 and buildings in the background add to that feeling.

I'm not sure what I intended this photo to convey. When I took it, I was looking for something that would allow me to assess some of the qualities of a particular film/developer combo. It turned out to be something more interesting than I had originally intended.

I'm not sure I would go as far as 'prison camp' but I do understand the drift of what Rex has said. Even the otherwise ugly bright white highlight toward the left seems to fit in with the 'compound' feel. A searchlight, maybe?

I've enjoyed looking at this, and the, probably related, swings pictures on your site.

Hmm -- I didn't get "prison camp" out of this at all.

I find the centered composition interesting and unusual, very balanced. Like three pictures in one, the left and right sides, and then the wired up post in the center. And all three areas have something to add. The texture of the post -- especially at the bottom, the vehicles on the right, the texture of the grass in the left corner, the trees, and even that highlight -- this is an image that I can look at for a long time without losing interest.

I am not getting the emotion here that Rex sees, but I like this very much.
