Hong Kong Bay

Hong Kong Bay
OK, the Internet connection in the new apartment is now up and running, back in business! The moving is not completely finished, but enough is done to be operational from the new home. I have a lot of catch up to do on the commenting side, but here is a picture first :-)
This is not what is generally called Hong Kong Bay. I have the obligatory picture of that one, but I find this one more interesting. It is taken from the Governor Walk path around Victoria peak. One sees that when on the other side of the hill from Hong Kong. This was twilight already, the sky is probably due to being in the Summer monsoon a day after a night of *heavy* rain. The black spots are birds, not dust.
Comments:
But I presume that the black dots in the sea are boats. This view brings out the Chinese character; the sort of islands one associates with China either on the coast or inland. In fact, the square format leaves one wanting to see more either side, despite the impressive sky.
This is very atmospheric and the sky dominates the little islands. I am left with a feeling of this place being ethereal.
Beautiful - this is Hong Kong. As much as I like the view from the peak across to the mainland making sure that the Bank of China building is in sight, this is much more in keeping with my idea of HK - all those little islands. That sky goes on forever and looks so foreboding.
Ah, memories of the peak walk...
When I was last there, I would have wanted to make a picture such as this. Now, I wouldn't. I'd probably be after the path and the dusty foliage. And the people with their bottles of distilled water.
Not that the above is much of a contribution to discussing this excellent picture, but therein lies a point of interest. This does ring my bells, but they are rather distant and quiet bells.
While the sky is lovely, I think there's a bit too much of it for my taste. The islands end up feeling a bit crushed.
