Going Down & Going Up

Comments:
The furnicular, or one of, at Bournemouth on a wet and cold Bank Holiday Monday. The post was inspired by Christina's Clearwater Evening Light.

My first choice of image was one where the going up car exactly filled the right hand window.

It's difficult to position the 'upgoing' car such that it is immediately obvious that it is not part of the structure from which the photo is taken. The disadvantage of your first choice would be the removal of much of the coastal interest, so this is probably better. It's a good way to present the coast and has a useful family on the promenade to the left; indeed without it the lack of action would make one wonder what the car is for. I like the darkish interior but the fact that it is difficult to read the sign makes one wonder whether a double exposure to give a lighter interior would have been worthwhile.

Happy to inspire this post -- looked up "furnicular" though. Yet another term I was unfamiliar with. I found it spelled "funicular" as well.

I like framing through windows, as well as reflections, and the different shapes and their "flow" worked well for me. A fine way to present the scenery.

The reflection towards the right-hand side and the hand-rail(?) detracts from a good seaside vista. In each window, something slightly different is going on. The emptiness in the left most window which builds up well through the following three windows. Suitably cloudy to inspire memories of those long warm English summers.

I don't think that I would have got the point of this without the title and/or your introduction. Maybe if that reflection towards the right were stronger?

Reflections or a bit of motion blur, but I guess that would have just made a mess of it.
