Exoskeleton

Comments:
Although I admire the technical excellence of the subject I do find the background to be devoid of any natural feeling.

It's like a body caught in lava at Pompeii; indeed, the only clue that it is not alive is the thread of spider's webs. The background is rather suitable for a piece of taxidermy: it's like an exhibit in a museum. And green and gold go well together! Our grandson would be thrilled if you showed him one of these.

I shot this just as I found it in a very shaded part of my yard -- only spotted it because a stray bit of light through the trees hit just right -- no flash used. Each of the five or six images I shot have the same background, except a few are even darker!

Fascinating study of a piece of nature I wouldn't typically see. Though I'd not go as far as rex I think that a slightly more 'interesting' background would bring this out a little more. By interesting I'm not after more detail just a little bit of break-up in the tone.

Whilst it does look like it is on a piece of green baize, I think the subject is delicate enough that almost anything else would have been too much competition.

Flipping this over 90 degrees to the right, makes the 'thing' look much more alive (not that that is necessarily a good idea).
