Duck race

Comments:
First thought, where did they start the race?

This aligns with my sense of humour.

I'll put 20p on the white one..............

They do these once a year in Cardigan too. Not posted on the internet then?

I'm not sure why this is funny, but I laugh a little every time I see this. Something about the lettering seems vaguely menacing, which is completely inappropriate for the message.

Apart from the humor, the composition of this, although pretty straight forward, works well. It's balanced and draws the eye well. The gradual fading into the background is pleasing as well.

It's funny because I assume this is so far from the village notice board. It is either extremely clever advertising (i.e. makes the viewer actually walk to the village hall to see the time and place) or an example of bad communication (i.e. no one told the sign writer the correct coordinates). Either way this needs a big duck in the river. Sorry for the need for a cliche but...

Very sharp up front which fades well to the distance...and good use of railings.

Agree with the funny comments. I'm trying to imagine how ducks would be raced -- live, or the rubber yellow bath tub type.

Very scenic beyond the sign -- almost to where I'd like to tear it down so I can see better.

Christina - if the ducks used were anything like ours, I can guarantee that they would go in any direction but that which you wanted!

It struck me yesterday (probably in the wake of a couple of documentaries on TV) how significant this sign, and the event it announces, is in the life of a village or small town.
