Dublin 2 - above Dun Laoghaire station

Comments:
A nice moment caught here and well composed. The subjects really dominate despite everything around them. I don't really doubt that B&W was the best way to go here, but I'm always curious about the colors of things.

By the way -- I will get a Fuji f31fd tomorrow -- maybe I'll actually take some new photos. Have not been out shooting for a few weeks now for various reasons. I'm looking forward to having something small enough to carry with me most of the time. Thanks for your influence and help on the P&S camera choice.

Christina - it is reasonably monochrome: the metal bits are grey and the tower and awnings dingy beige with a dull orange trim to the signs. In fact, it looks OK in either colour or b/w but the latter won out!

I hope that the 31fd turns out OK - just bear in mind that it performs best away from bright sunlight, which is not to say that one can't use it then! Responsibility...

There is a lot of clutter in the shot but the arrows direct the eye to the core of the action. Apart from the people, there are a number of other pairs at work which add to the togetherness theme. "Titan" adds a certain humour to the proceedings too. As I said first, a little cluttered/busy for my tastes but a couple of subtleties just tilts it in my favour.

If only that stone/brick tower weren't there!

As akikana says this is a fight with the clutter, not that I can see any alternative take.

With all those arrows pointing up, I think I would have been tempted to frame this vertically. As it is, this is just a little to cluttered for my eye.

Matt - a portrait mode shot might have worked better but for some reason my eye was drawn to this composition. I wasn't sure about the end result, not so much because of 'clutter' (by my definition!) but because I was concerned that the main protagonists couldn't quite compete with the strong architectural forms with only the arrow to help.

Ah, yeah, that's a valid concern.

I found the image dominated by the sight of the two men kissing, I almost feel guilty for making that observation. The arrow on the right adds to the strength of the couple as well as the verticals that surround them.

Rex - the smaller one is a girl, wearing a baseball cap the wrong way round. But she does come close to looking like a bloke, when seen on her own.

It looks like the smaller person has sideburns that go into a small beard. That is why I thought they were both blokes.
