Does The Nail That Sticks Out Gets Banged Down?

Kanda-jimbocho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

Comments:
Where'd I put my hammer?

Urgent bottled tea deliveries?

How do you get to your trike if you get allocated one of the middle ones?

I love the thoughtful sun canopy on the building. There is just something so organised about this whole scene.

If I was in the cycle lane I'd get very annoyed with the nail sticking out! I like it as a piece of micro-observation and, Colin, the Japanese would never be so inefficient as to allocate one of the middle ones: the keys would be lined up from left to right. Last night's driver of the 'nail' would be lying on a bed of nails. As a picture, the realism demands that the whole thing gets rotated .3 of a degree or so left

Firstly, I must say that during my long absence, the tonality in your pictures has dramatically changed, for the better in my opinion.

I like this subject with the aligned.. what are they?!? ... things... and the last one misaligned. I don't think that much of the street and building was needed, I think I'd prefer it framed tighter.

This is so obviously your image -- there is often something there that adds a bit of subtle humor and what I'll call "human-ness" for lack of a better word right now. Even when there is no human in sight.

And yes, very organized, as Colin says (only he spells it differently).

differently = correctly

:-)

I Googled Kanda-jimbocho Chiyoda-ku Tokyo to find out a bit more about the environment. I got back a page of Art Galleries, Bookshops and similar. Then I got a company that made toner!

I like the insight that your images provide and the curiosity they raise.

Actually the one at the end is the boss and the others are being rebuked for parking on the pavement.

I think these were a Chinese restaurant's delivery bikes. The title is a translation of a Japanese saying which promotes uniformity. The area is typically just called Jimbocho and is famous for bookshops and a number of university campuses.

Stephane - thanks for noticing and yes, I have been working hard on my scanning and post processing techniques.

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.
