Cretan Rock

Comments:
The obvious analogy is lunar or maybe one of those objects in an asteroid belt. Not abstract but one could imagine an abstract painting being made from this. It bears a lot of looking - textures and shapes are very strong.
I'm assuming that this is quite a big bit of rock, but I don't know why as there isn't much to suggest scale.
It is a good use of light and shade, but other than that it isn't doing much for me.
I might prefer this as an abstract painting. As it is, I'm wanting to see some depth and/or scale that just isn't coming across, despite the texture and lighting.
The shape seems almost facial. I think the light and texture are enough for me. The shadows could be a little deeper, but that's a niggling complaint.
facial..given my vast RPG experience I'd err it's a Minotaur. Good texture in the rock has been well held. Definitely right to expose for the highlights in this one as it really brings out the rock well.
