Cardigan Bay

Cardigan Bay as seen from the first floor of the foyer at the Arts Centre in the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. It was a cold, windy day in March and I was trying to include swirling plastic bags but they wouldn't come into the field of view that I wanted. I have deliberately given it quite a contrasty conversion.

Comments:
I like the way that so many elements are conspiring to draw my attention to the two figures; they are very nearly boxed in.

I like the humour with the two subjects disappearing off the scene via the zebra crossing.

I'm feeling slightly awkward here, with the competing checkerboard of lines. A sensation of being at sea.

I find it a relief to look up to the distant level horizon.

I see the idea (I think!), I like that idea, I want to like the photo, but I don't know. Maybe I need more time. Maybe there are too many things.

Looking at the horizon is a recognised method of combatting seasickness.

I like using railings to sub frame pictures. It's always difficult though but this one works much better than most. The dirty window also adds a certain charm to this shot. I assume that's a bridge in the distance? Those two people walking towards the zebra crossing make the shot though... and where exactly does that crossing lead to? The angle of view certainly provides a good vantage point and the surrounding area is all captured well. Plenty of detail I imagine at a bigger size.

Makes me just a bit dizzy, but I have a thing about heights. I do enjoy the figures and then to look off to the horizon. Quite a sense of the vast distance between the two.
