Evolution or what?!! When one first sees this, the visual sensory mechanism motors in and out adjusting to both the scale and what it is. Minotaur ran through my mind during the process as well as fish. I've finally settled for goat. An amazing composition with the hill running along the profile of the skull; somehow amplifying the impact of the latter. The strong primary colours seem entirely right for this, as does the low viewpoint.
I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking at on the right! This is great. From the foreground detail to the lack of in the sky. The unknown creature melding smoothly in with the hill in the background. Limited use of colour with super texture and great point of view.
I attempted an image with the skull of a hog once, but it was no where near as sophisticated an effort as this. Great how you simplified the composition into just a few shapes and colors. Rather than empasizing the skull, it almost "sneaks up" on the viewer to make its impact.
The loner I've looked at this, the more it has grown on me. I have to admit, at first I didn't care for this. I like the way you are playing with scale here; the congruence between the scull and the hill fools the eye. This could be the skull of some giant beast.
