A Concrete Jungle?

Kami-meguro, Tokyo.
Comments:
Concrete jungle? There should be a cat peering out of that box surely.
I've had fun with this, playing spot the photo that I would have taken. There is lots of material to play with. It really works as a window onto another world. Even at 600 pixels, I'm there.
It is definitely a picture to keep looking at though. I can imagine, if in a more hasty mood, missing the point of it all together.
Give it a year, and no human presence, and the place would be bursting with greenery! I'm always fascinated with what lies behind buildings, the backside of any town. Short of the Pompidou building making a virtue of its services, most architects/builders are content to shove everything out at the back so that one has two views of a town: the magnificent facade and the thoughtless, frequently ugly and smelly, rear. I could accuse you of over-glamourising this shot: the sun is shining and, as Colin notes, you have picked up every feature and turned it into a (photographic) virtue. Whatever other shots there are, this is harmonious enough - too much so?!!
Have you adjusted your scanning? The tonality seems improved.
The contrast between the hard geometry of the man made objects and the downright furriness of the tree appeals to me. The mouldering box links the two worlds.
This, the actual place, could be a contender for the Turner Prize. I like the abstract art on the wall juxtapositioned with the every day items like the ladder, box and bush
At first glance, this didn't appeal to me, but each time I come back to it, it grows on me. The repetitive rectangular shapes all leading back to the corner, where the softer living tree is, in contrast to the hardness around it. Such a lot to see, yet each piece works with the others. I like images that I can look at for a long time and continually find things out, and this definitely qualifies. Today, the shadow struck me as an important part of the composition.
Thanks for all the comments. The abstract art on the wall are window coverings - probably a bathroom behind them. To the right of the ladder was a rather stripped-down motorcycle.
