Right, back to photography

I can't decide whether this one is too obscure or not. It seems to have all my usual elements, but.....

Anyway, it was at the top of the heap when I fired up the computer after the holiday. Even after printing it I'm not sure.

Comments:
The three dimensional effect is interesting, particularly given the subject matter and the horizon. For some reason I can see a print of this hanging in a really cool hotel bathroom; not sure what that means, but that's my first reaction.

Well, hotel bathroom, cool or hot, is a long way from my thinking (subconscious or not). If I have to ask why you think this is too obscure does that mean it is?

The geometry is strong as is the three-dimensional effect. After that initial visual impact, I'm immediately on to the why's and wherefores - I don't think that this is afloat and it appears to be at too steep an angle to be on a trailer (although the latter is possible). That leaves the possibility that it is hauled up the beach but that beach has to be at least as high as the base of the house on the left.

The hazy white in the foreground is not too distracting, but is just a little bit. Lining up the prow with the line of hills is, presumably, done consciously and I am not sure how important that is visually although any higher and it would run the risk of being lost against the sky.

Ultimately I can't quite reconcile the different elements (one has to presume a lot about location and occupation) but, apart from the near foreground white, the 3-D effect comes out as the strongest feature and that is good to look at.

Though the boat might not be afloat, the sensation for me is that it is. The viewer is at the back, and the front lifts due to this viewers weight. I find the foreground a little distracting (I can't tell what that shape is) but overall it's enjoyable. The immediate impact was "I like that".

I know I'm on a boat but it gives me a slightly static feeling. All the lines of the boat are very strong and lead me straight to the point at the stern(?). But then I'm left a little empty as I have no detail in the distant to keep my eye in the photo. The bucket is a nice touch though...if there was somehow a little more 'movement' created by the shot. Perhaps this is much too obscure even for me!

akikana - there was a discussion about the movement in this shot on A&P (link).

I look forward to a synthesis of the Stills showing with that on A & P once your head is clearer!

There is not very much of this image that is sharp but it matters not! I don't mind the furry base to the picture, I don't know why!

The repetition and curves lead my eye up to the prow and I do get a sense of impending motion forwards. A journey to be taken.

This has the potential for being a bit boring but escapes that because of some little touches, the bait tub, the prow-horizon intersection and the house.
