New Year New Blogger

I've just done the transfer to the new Blogger. I think that you will all be asked to update your accounts when you next try to post.

I've had another go at re-authorising Guy's logon. Let's hope that it works this time.

Any problems, let me know and we'll try to work out what is happening.

Well that worked. I'd appreciate an idiots guidw as to how to transfer. The instructions I read somewhere didn't seem applicable for moving a blog.

Rex,

My understanding is that you can go on commenting with your old Blogger account, but you will have to switch to make new posts. At the moment all the old user approvals seem to be being held in a 'guest' category, rather than a 'member' category.

To switch the blog I just followed the on screen instructions - which included setting up one of the new google/blogger accounts and a new sign on. I found the instructions in the blog dashboard when I was signed in as an administrator.

I've transferred and sent a new picture (since cancelled). If one uses the old symbol to upload, the picture appears in the box and totally fills it so that the only place one can write is in a tickertape arrangement just below. That has a maximum of 200 characters/words (can't remember which but one runs out very quickly). Is there a way round that? One also has to sign in to send this - altogether more clumsy.

The limit is 200 characters so, seemingly, Johjo would not have been able to write what he has below his latest post. And this signing in for each comment is a real pain.

Rex,

Archive pages fixed. Blogger had changed the path and the old links were being redirected to my server 404 error page.

Anything else....?

(ps - I'm not impressed by the new blogger. Although functionality has been added, reliability hasn't been great and there are some things that are actively worse)

I was going to trash these test posts, but every time I log on Blogger seems to have changed the fonts on 'Stills'. I know that the template needs a rewrite, but this isn't subtle (what, me, paranoid?)

Anyway, if you have dropped by recently to find 'Stills' has pink text on a fetching blue background, don't worry, and do not adjust your set.

I'm sure they'll sort this out. Won't they?

Publishing has "stuck" so often recently that the 'recent posts' bit of the sidebar shows differently in different posts.

However, the basic functionality seems to be working OK at the moment, so I'm tempted to leave well alone - for a while at least.
