Comments:
The title is slightly annoying even if it is descriptive. But that is the only complaint.
The composition is spot on in its combination of items and their placement. In particular, the brown barnacle counterpoints the prevailing monochrome perfectly. You are also helped by the soft shadows, which don't clash with the overall mood of the picture. The colour/black and white flip is fascinating.
Well done for keeping 'Stills' on the road!
I'm not sure what I can add really as John has said what I had in mind re: the monochrome/colour though I would add that the texture, particularly far right, is amost bark like.
The rock/pebble to the left is too dominating and keeps my eye away from what I think should be the shot: a close up of the two barnacles. That squiggle of brown in the rock needs to be made the most of. I don't know my geology but it sure looks like an unusual trait within this rock formation. And the brownish barnacle certainly spotted it in an attempt for better camoflage. I'm much prefer this one than your Trying to Hide posting.
Whereas, I prefer 'trying to hide'. The elements in this one are too unbalanced for me, and I keep falling out of the picture.
